Ροχανί: Οι σκληρές κυρώσεις βλάπτουν το λαό

Για βίαιες κυρώσεις σε βάρος της χώρας του μίλησε ο πρόεδρος του Ιράν Χασάν Ρουχανί από το βήμα της ετήσιας συνεδρίασης του ΟΗΕ ενώ διαμήνυσε ότι η Τεχεράνη είναι έτοιμη να συμμετάσχει σε δεσμευτικές συνομιλίες για το πυρηνικό της πρόγραμμα που θα έχουν στόχο να υπάρξει αποτέλεσμα. Σε τηλεοπτική του συνέντευξη εξάλλου-ερωτηθείς για το εάν αποδέχεται το Ολοκαύτωμα-είπε ότι οι Ναζί διέπραξαν καταδικαστέα εγκλήματα σε βάρος του εβραϊκού λαού.

Τηρώντας πιο μετριοπαθή στάση σε σχέση με τον προκάτοχό του σε ό,τι αφορά το Ισραήλ και τα πυρηνικά που διαθέτει η χώρα του αλλά με σκληρή γλώσσα σε ό,τι αφορά τις κυρώσεις σε βάρος της Τεχεράνης, ο ιρανός πρόεδρος εξέφρασε την ελπίδα ότι ο Μπαράκ Ομπάμα δεν θα επηρεαστεί από τις «ομάδες πίεσης» για το πυρηνικό πρόγραμμα του Ιράν, ενώ ζήτησε να υπάρξει μια συνεπής στάση από την Ουάσινγκτον επί του θέματος.

ΜΕΙΟΝ 4% ΤΟ 2013: Φρένο στον κατήφορο της ύφεσης

Στο 4% οριοθετούν την ύφεση του 2013 οικονομικό επιτελείο και τρόικα, ποσοστό που είναι το χαμηλότερο από τις έως τώρα προβλέψεις για τη μεταβολή του ΑΕΠ εντός του τρέχοντος έτους.

Οπως έγινε γνωστό χθες, οι δύο πλευρές συμφώνησαν ότι η ύφεση θα είναι τελικά ηπιότερη φέτος και πως του χρόνου η ελληνική οικονομία θα περάσει σε ανάπτυξη με έστω και οριακό ρυθμό μεγέθυνσης στην περιοχή του 0,6%.

In working on my latest book Perv, some of the saddest material I came across involved the stormy cross-cultural conflicts erupting between Western ideals of sex and those discovered among other “exotic” societies. The field of cultural anthropology has its own dark history in this regard. For an embarrassingly long time, in fact, some unethical scholars were in the dubious business of publishing thinly veiled “ethnopornographies” of their trusting subjects. With revealing titles such asUntrodden Fields of Anthropology (1898), Neger-Eros (1928), and Erotikon (1966), these researchers seemed far less concerned about educating Western audiences than they were in titillating readers with lurid true stories of savage lust. Some of these scandalous volumes even included explicit “photodocumentation” of the subjects at hand, which arguably involved the production of sexually exploitative images of indigenous people.

Brazil's president, Dilma Rousseff, has launched a blistering attack on US espionage at the UN general assembly, accusing the NSA of violating international law by its indiscriminate collection of personal information of Brazilian citizens and economic espionage targeted on the country's strategic industries.

Rousseff's angry speech was a direct challenge to President Barack Obama, who was waiting in the wings to deliver his own address to the UN general assembly, and represented the most serious diplomatic fallout to date from the revelations by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

Πολύτιμο χρόνο φαίνεται να χάνει η χώρα μας λόγω των καθυστερήσεων στη δημιουργία αποθηκών φυσικού αερίου στη νότια Καβάλα και της χρονοτριβής στον σχετικό διαγωνισμό από το ΤΑΙΠΕΔ. Σε σημερινή του τοποθέτηση ο Βούλγαρος διευθύνων σύμβουλος της Bulgar Trans Gaz (του γειτονικού ΔΕΣΦΑ δηλαδή) κ. Κύριλος Τεμλέκοφ αποκάλυψε πως ενώ η Ελλάδα καθυστερεί, η χώρα του ξεκίνησε διαδικασίες δημιουργίας αποθηκών φυσκού αερίου στο έδαφος της που θα προμηθεύει ημερησίως 10 εκατ. κυβικά μέτρα αερίου σε γειτονικές της χώρες ενώ και η Κροατία, η Ιταλία, η Αλβανία ετοιμάζουν ανάλογα σχέδια.

Talking Turkey A Conversation With Abdullah Gul

Last October, Turkish President Abdullah Gul met with Foreign Affairs Managing Editor Jonathan Tepperman in Ankara to discuss politics at home and throughout the region. This week, with Gul in New York to address the UN General Assembly, the two resumed the conversation. 

We last talked almost exactly a year ago. Let's start by reviewing some of what has happened to Turkey in the last 12 months. The summer was filled with protests, Turkey lost its bid for the 2020 Olympics, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) recently announced that it's halting its withdrawal of fighters, and the economy is slowing. Are you are as optimistic today about Turkey's future as you were a year ago?
